The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett

For more than 10 years, Delbert Yocam has served as an independent consultant at Yocam Holdings, LLC, a private investment firm in Bellevue, Washington, which he co-founded. Away from his wealth management responsibilities, Delbert Yocam enjoys reading novels and one of his favorite authors is Ken Follett.

A native of Wales, Ken Follett launched his literary career in 1978 with Eye of the Needle, which preceded four subsequent thrillers, and On Wings of Eagles, a work of non-fiction. He garnered success with his first six books, but moved into international fame with The Pillars of the Earth, a historical novel that narrates the building of a cathedral in the middle ages. The book continues to sell 100,000 copies per year in the United States, 25 years after its original publication.

The Pillars of the Earth has received widespread acclaim. It was named the second-best novel written in the last 60 years by The Times in London, and is a top all-time pick of the Oprah Winfrey Book Club.
